Music on the Green lunchtime concert: World War One Centenary Commemoration

World War One Centenary Commemoration
'Keep the Home Fires Burning'
Wednesday 21 November 2018, 12.30pm

Chris Hooker - clarinet, Dimitri Kennaway - piano
Valerie Fry - poet and reader

Music on the Green is very pleased to commemorate the 1918 Armistice with the piano, clarinet and poetry of 'Wind and Words' who will transport us back to the era of World War One. Many of the popular songs that kept up the spirits of our 'Tommies' will be featured.

The programme will combine popular early 20th century tunes, including ones by Ivor Novello and Jerome Kern, with moving poetry of that period by Kipling, Siegfried Sassoon and others, all woven into one continuous performance.

We hope that this will be a fitting tribute to those who gave so much.
