Ashes are an ancient sign of penitence. It is the custom to begin Lent by being marked in ash with the sign of the cross. Ash Wednesday, marks the start of Lent in the Christian calendar and has been observed by Christians for centuries.
This year's service - which will be online only - will be available to view on the Parish YouTube channel, from 8am on Wednesday morning.
The Rector has recorded a short video on how you might prepare ash at home for the imposition of ashes.
